Eddystone, PA, September 22, 2011, Prosthetic Innovations, LLC, a leader in progressive care for upper and lower extremity prosthetic clients across the country, announced its distinction as an iWalk Certified Bionics Center. With this designation, Prosthetic Innovations, LLC will serve as one of the nation’s first prosthetics providers to commercially offer the PowerFoot BiOM, the first robotic lower leg system to normalize metabolic efficiency and increase self-selected walking speed for amputees. The BiOM features advanced bionic technology developed by Dr. Hugh Herr, an MIT-based, world-renowned innovator and researcher in the fields of biomechanics, biological motion control and augmentation technologies.

Prosthetic Innovations, LLC’ recognition as an iWalk Certified Bionics Center signifies the company’s standing as one of the leading prosthetic providers in the nation, including a demonstrated excellence in patient service, clinical care and quality fabrication. As a charter member of the BiOM distribution network, Prosthetic Innovations, LLC continues its commitment to embracing and partnering with proven technology suppliers to provide the best prosthetic solutions available for individuals with limb loss.

“We are thrilled to be one of the first prosthetic facilities selected as a certified iWalk Bionics Center to offer the PowerFoot BiOM,” stated Christopher Dalmass, Partner of Prosthetic Innovations, LLC. “Our center is dedicated to giving 110% to our clients and helping each individual find the right solution. Often times this requires a great deal of time and research to do so, but with the availability of the BiOM, it empowers us to provide the most advanced prosthetic technology available.”

The BiOM is the world’s first bionic lower leg system that utilizes robotics to replicate muscles and tendons that replace the action of the foot, Achilles tendon and calf muscle. Scientific research proves that the BiOM normalizes level ground walking for lower-limb amputees by enabling them to walk at the same speed, and with the same metabolic energy, as their peers with intact biological limbs.

“The BiOM is the most advanced technology for the restoration of natural movement in lower-limb amputees, and it is critical that iWalk partners with providers that share our commitment to making bionic technology a commercial reality,” said Timothy McCarthy, iWalk’s President and CEO. “Prosthetic Innovations, LLC exemplifies this dedication and has met all of the criteria to join our clinical distribution network. We are excited to welcome the team as a charter iWalk Certified Bionics Center.”
